You know- those shiny round things you used to have to buy if you wanted to listen to songs.

I'm looking for a first print of a few different albums but information is kind of scarce. wikipedia's dates are not always reliable.

Yes. It's nice supporting new musicians. It's nice getting signed copies. It's nice having a back up . It's nice filling up bookshelves with CD's. All because you don't like downloading music by the album it doesn't mean that the music scene is dead.

Sometimes; only if the CD is by an artist I really like. I mostly just listen to music online these days.

This.

Pretty sure I've got somewhere over 1000, last time I counted was some years ago and I was around 650-ish.

My dad does, but just classical music. I could give an estimate on how many tb it would equate to but I dont think anybody would believe me. But yeah, its absurd. And 98-99% are in perfect condition too. Me and my brother were taught how to properly handle cds without smudging as kids

A lesson learned from MySpace days is that if you like a new musician, buy their albums because you never know if they will decide to delete all their songs before leaving the Internet for whatever reason. There are hundreds of nice MySpace bands whose music can never be recovered because no one bothered to back up their music.

I like the CDs but streaming and youtube got me. I got U2 Joshua Tree for a dollar and it was in pristine condition. Best CD I've ever owned. I hate the band members though. Oh and I bought full price for White Snake best of... 4$ not bad but it has pop rock songs that I skip.

Yeah, I have like 200 or so now. For me, they are easier to find than vinyl, generally have good sound quality, are easy to store (my wife made me build a shelf for our collection), and they are super easy to digitize so I can keep my entire collection with me.

@gbpxl: What albums are you after? First print cd's aren't necessarily the best choice. Compressing digital music was a common practice in order to make the music louder. As a result nuance and dynamics were lost. Well mastered cd's are not only better to listen to but are more collectible. I recommend at least checking ratings and reviews on discos for individual releases. There are also audiophile forums you can get information from.
