At first I thought it was a lot of.button mashing but there is a considerable amount of strategy to be thought out playing this game.

Also I noticed that it keeps tracks of the difficulty of each chapter so it makes it worth your while to go back and replay the campaign.

Fun game, good work Nintendo and Koei.

The strategy is tied to the "Fire Emblem" element. To give the feeling of a "Fire Emblem game" the strategy implementations are there for that purpose.

It really is a good blend of the two styles.

Yeah, I wasn't interested in any of the other Warriors games after seeing them on YouTube, but the blend of some strategic elements made this one stand out to me. The strategy gives some breaks from the mashing. I think it's a bit too easy, but I've enjoyed it thoroughly. I beat the main story, and I'm in History mode right now.
