Update:

Last night I fell asleep on the couch, and he fell asleep at my feet. He's being very affectionate this morning, and is vocal with his mews for attention. He's figured out where to eat and drink, but hasn't gone to the bathroom yet. So far he's acclimating very well!

I ordered a cat condo, a window perch, and a chaser toy that should be arriving for him soon!

When I got Gracie she didn't use the litter box until the middle of her first night. I was worried. She hid a lot too. Now I've had her five weeks and she's pretty normal.

For sure! I've been researching a bunch on cat behavior leading up to this process. Thanks for bringing this up, and I hope your cat is okay!

Thanks. Im hoping were out of the woods but Im not going to place any bets yet.

Just a quick update.
Its been 3 days since the vets and weve had no howling, no blood, no outside the boxes and the usual amount of urine. I think hes gonna be fine now. :)

On the topic of names I really wanted to call our tuxedo cat Klonoa but he came with the name Oscar (and yes, he does look grouchy) and the other half always wanted an Oscar (happy coincidence - we didnt have him just because of his name) so the name stayed.
