He had a licensed handgun, but was out of state with it. Big whoop.

Still stupid to be at this... whatever that thing was supposed to be.

Are the gun control laws big whoop or breaking gun control laws big whoop?

nothing wrong here.

he can argue that the gun control is needed and that he was punished fairly. breaking a law does not imply you don't approve of said law.

It's pretty dumb for these Chicago rappers who we know are gang affiliated to be supporting this. Like...I have no problem with beng either or, but being both? Just seems dishonest at best.

That would go for any gang affiliated person by the way, not just rappers or Chicago rappers.

Mensa, whose real name is Victor Kwesi Mensah, pleaded guilty July 10, 2017, to carrying a concealed firearm and was sentenced to two years probation, according to Los Angeles County court documents.

The rapper was pulled over Feb. 28, 2017, for running a stop sign in Beverly Hills, TMZ reported after the arrest. Police found a loaded firearm in the car. Although Mensa had a license to carry in another state, the permit was not valid in California. After his arrest, Mensa was released on $35,000 bail.

No wonder the guy is politically active.

The conceal carry reciprocity act currently in the Senate would make what he did perfectly legal. Still, he is at fault because you need to know the law of the places you visit. My Minnesota permit is not valid in every state.

The more extreme ones want more than that. As it stands, they're doing everything they can, at the state level, to require registration and limit magazine size. For example, a bill being pushed here would require weapon registration and a background check on transactions between family members. So, if you were bequeathed a weapon at someone's death, and didn't register it or get a background check, you'd be a criminal.

They're also pushing assault weapons bans that would require he turn in his handgun or go to prison.

They want to criminalize gun ownership by inserting fine print, yes. Another example is magazine size. When I bought my Glock, it came with a 10 round magazine. They want anything more than 7 illegal, effectively making the gun illegal unless you purchase smaller magazines.

This is a reason why concealed carry reciprocity is needed so you don't turn into a criminal by merely crossing a line.

It's not even fine print - they define 'assault weapons' as any semiautomatic firearm OR any weapon 'capable' of accepting 10-round magazines or larger.

Even buying a smaller magazine wouldn't help.

I definitely support it. There should be a federal standard if This is the case, though. Some states allow permits just by applying. In fairness, holders should demonstrate proficiency and understanding of when use of deadly force is appropriate. Also demonstrate that they can operate it safely.

I agree with a federal license that establishes a minimum standard. It is a good compromise to prevent the laxest state from being the standard of the nation.

That's effectively any weapon capable of accepting a magazine at all.

States like NY, IL and CA are vehemently against this type of reasonable compromise.

I know. Which is proof that anyone saying 'we don't want to take your guns' or 'this is just about weapons of war' is either lying or ignorant.
