I really know absolutely nothing about that game, but I've seen a couple short gameplay videos of it and I kinda got similar vibes to Earthbound. Is it like that series?

It's very much modeled after earthbound but it's also a sort of tongue-in-cheek parody of it. Combat is more interesting, though, because it has a bullet hell style minigame built into it and a mechanic that lets you beat the game without killing a single enemy.

I don't feel like they are similar, but the maker of Undertale drew heavily from Earthbound.
