Well you see there's this thing called the constitution.

In it our framers included amendments, not granting rights, but forbidding the government from legislating rights that were inherent. The first 10 were called the bill of rights and included the first and second amendment forbidding laws that would limit freedom of speech, religion or gun ownership.

You should take a history class my man.

If I didn't have this gun, the king of England could walk right in here and start pushing you around.

D'you want that? Huh? Do ya?

The better question is why people are so afraid to look at the constitution and have legitimate conversations about adapting it to the current times. Thomas Jefferson and other founding fathers actually advocated for that. It doesnt mean we have to completely eliminate the 2nd amendment.

There's this thing called critical thinking. See when you do it...you challenge the reasoning of ideas and question whether previously established things are correct.

It's why science has advanced so far and why we don't think the world is flat anymore just because people in the past declared it was flat.

Try it next time.

Why do people consider these rights similarly?

-well they are both in the same area of the same document

Gahhhh I don't want an answer to my question I want critical thinking and wild speculation.

Without the second, the other eight are at stake.

Because some people have an irrational fear of a government they still choose to live under the heel of. It's ironic.

Because, as Chairman Mao once pointed out, political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.

If you give up your weapons, you give up your implied power in the political system (that is, if the government deviates severely enough from the will of the people, an armed uprising would challenge them)

The authority of every government in the 21st century is still backed by force of arms so don't think we're so far removed from the excesses and abuses of tyranny.

In blunt terms, I suppose. I assumed it was understood that you don't have a gun in this illustration because it's representing a world without a 2nd amendment.

Also, I brainfarted and said "the other eight" because I subtracted 2 from 10, lol.

The point is that just because something is in the same part of a document doesn't mean it should be together.

People have had sunshine and glitter pumped up their arse with their "rights" granted within the constitution.

They forgot about responsibilities once they had them, at least after the US became a dominant power. Now it is screeching and a sense of entitlement over "muh freedums, muh freeze peach, muh guns.

It bled into the social culture and the damage is done. Give people lots of rights, tell them how wonderful they are and neglect to demand standards and then you have the current mess.
