they remastered it...twice now. or just ported the remaster to this gen, idfk

the controls in dmc1 are just awful. i remember playing this back when it came out and i had no issues with it, but now...it's just

it makes me go "what?"

the fixed camera angles are a pain. so you're holding the stick up to run forward so you're running away from the screen, and then the scene switches so you're now running towards the screen. you're still holding up on the joystick though.

there's some object in the way you have to run a few feet to the left of, though, so you try that...and all of a sudden dante is now running away from the screen. since you've moved the joystick a microfraction to the left, the game reset the controller orientation.

fixed camera angles are just fucking awful for this reason alone.

and in this remaster, why is everything all upscaled and pretty except the menu screen?

the game is in widescreen, it's good looking. pick an item up or otherwise go to your menu? pixelated low res 4:9 aspect ratio with jarring black bars on the left and right of it. why? why not also upscale the menu? not even the item images are changed, they're blurry and so ugly looking.

Well they did just post it from the PS3 version I believe. Still I can't say I have any issue with it.
