More open world games should reuse the map tbh. Then the developers can focus on improving with new content

Depends on the extent.

Tristram in Diablo II = cool.

What I don't really mind is the reuse of assets, if something unique is created (Majora's Mask), but completely reusing an entire setting is usually eh for me.

Does that really count? Sure it takes place in Rapture but you don't go to any of the places from the first game.

It depends really.

On paper it's cool but if they're just reusing assests for the hell of it then that sucks. Doesn't even have to be the same place, some game sequels just reuse areas and claim they are somewhere else.

I mean look at FFX-2. They reuse like 97% of FFX because they are fucking lazy.

And then 2.8% of the "New" locations are just caves/ruins or pits that are generic as hell.

The remaining 0.2% is Kilika.

The whole game feels identical to the first one. It's more of a bloated expansion.

Cool if it's not overused.

When I finally played Fire Emblem Binding Blade and found that some of the maps were ones I also played in Blazing Blade but with different enemies, that was pretty neat. Though in this case, I was playing the original game after having played a later game that was considered its prequel, not exactly playing a sequel after the original game.

I think it depends on context. Anor Londo was really cool becase it was shown through each game's perspective lens. I hated Bloodborne's Hunter DLC though because it was literally just the same level with the same enemies again.

Every reused world in that game was completely different from the their KH1 counterparts. I think it wouldve been fine if each world had the same attention to detail and motivation to explore like the first one

What? KH2 had plenty of new worlds, and the ones that returned were mostly completely redesigned. I mean, for new stuff you had

Twilight Town (technically from CoM but basically new)
The Land of Dragons
Beast's Castle
The Underworld (technically Olympus but it's basically a completely new world)
Disney Castle/Timeless River
Port Royal
The Pride Lands
Space Paranoids
The World That Never Was

And for returning worlds you had

Hollow Bastion (takes place in the town now rather than the castle, so basically new)
Agrabah (though completely redesigned)
Halloween Town (though with more of an emphasis on Christmas Town, a new area)
Atlantica (just a mini game collection, not a full world)
Hundred Acre Wood (see Atlantica)

I wouldn't call any of that lazy. KH2 had way more new stuff than old
