And while that's true a lot of the time, I think it also stems from a non-black person's idea of what the majority of their culture consists of. Since it was a big staple of hip-hop and visual media (movies/tv/art) when it first started, non-black people equate it like that. Which I find funny because that skips over other things like jazz and blues and rock and roll. I guess, since the generation we live in was there for the birth, or early days of hip-hop, it became our cultural touchstone. --- I wrote a horror short story collection.
