Well, in essence they are the same thing. There are decent people on both sides of the aisle but they're few and far between. The actual governing bodies of both parties are driven predominantly by corporate interests.

Yes, but failure to choose the lesser of two evils is how you wind up with the worst case scenario. The system sucks but it isn't going to change so either work with it to make the best of it or bury your head in the sand and let the worst happen.

"Same shit both sides" is accurate though, I can not recall the last time either side of the aisle did any favors for me, in fact, they both go above and beyond to screw me over whenever they can. It's not about feeling superior, it's the fact that both sides are literally the fucking enemy.

If the fact that your side of choice sucks ass and isn't worth associating with triggers your little libby/conny ass, then maybe you ought to start fucking clean house to make your side actually worth a damn, instead of expecting me to pick which poison I want to choke and die on.

This is pretty much the issue, right here.
Politics is not one-dimensional. The leading theory on political parties is that imagine a quadrant. The x-axis is the social dimension and the y-axis is the economic dimension. Well, depending on which era of politics we're in, the two parties will be focusing more on one of the two. If we're in a social-policies focused era, then people who are economic-focused will feel that the two parties are the same. Same goes the other way around.

People who feel neglected by both parties and are mislead into believing that the parties don't affect your day-to-day life will of course accept that "both parties are the same" and look towards broad statements like the fact that members of both parties accept large donations as evidence.
They are almost there, just not quite there all the way. And it's troublesome that many of them like to throw around their belief as more sophisticated than people who don't agree with them, as if people who recognize the differences are not as smart as them.

Would not at all be surprised if this uptake in the last ten years or so is the work of outside actors wishing to make people believe in the Horseshoe Theory and the like.

And it's not something I just "picked up" in the last few years or even something I got from the internet, I was born and raised lower class, I learned from the very beginning that politicians, and anyone who supports them, are not friends of the down-trodden, that both sides will shit on me every single time while insisting I vote for them anyway.

I don't care where my opinions on the "pro this" or "anti that" fall on the axis, all the political parties can go fuck themselves, because goodness knows I've gotten tired of them fucking me.
