The TDLR: is a bill written under the guise of stopping sex trafficking, has stripped away the protection of section 230 of the Communications act of 1934 which means companies that run web services will soon be responsible for the actions of their users, even if they are unaware of them, to the point of criminal charges that could result in up to 25 years in prison. This seems possibly to apply retroactively, meaning websites could be punished for stuff their users did, before this became a law.

Does this mean Gamefaqs could be held liable if a user goes off the deep end here?

I think its only for boards/users that plan their stuff on that website. Something like if people were selling things/trafficking people through that website, theyd get in trouble.

right. so if i made a topic offering something against the law, whether it be goods or services, then someone takes me up on that offer and then an exchange happens (ie the law is broken), GameFAQs would be liable for "facilitating" that illegal activity.
