What most actors/actresses don't want to be is pigeon holed, this is what unfortunately happens to some like Daniel Radcliffe who everyone keeps referring to as Harry Potter and even some found it hard to even get a role because of being typecasted like Alfonso Ribeiro. Yes there are some that don't mind doing one role their whole life, but most actors/actresses want to leave a legacy and you really can't do that just playing one role.

Has to be boring since I don't think they even get sets anymore. How fucking boring would it be "acting" in front of a green screen?

I wonder if a lot of actors feel this way. Sir Ian McKellan broke down crying after seeing he was going to act entirely in front of a green screen for the Hobbit movies, reportedly saying "this isn't why I became an actor."

Yeah. Green screen is not some evil thing that shouldnt exist. Its a great tool when used right. Overuse is sad though and it was part of why the Hobbit movies werent beloved like LOTR trilogy was(though I think it was overly thought decent despite it all) alongside a trouble production and some terrible executive meddling and such nonsense.

The LOTR movies were recent enough that the decision to go full CGI for orcs and environments was mind-boggling and jarring.

he doesn't want to do it anymore and claims Avengers 4 is his last movie. he never wanted to do it in the first place and Marvel had to get RDJ to convince him. apparently he likes to make boring indy films and needed money from being Cap to do his dream. it always makes me sad when good actors of great characters hate their own work and don't appreciate it

Boring Indy films lol. Good for him, Indy films are some of the best work we get.

It's easier to put on a mask and be confident portraying someone else.

Same reason really depressed actors can portray happy go lucky characters TBH.

I did drama in high school despite having social anxiety. It's different being in front of an audience and being scripted. You know what's expected of you if that makes sense? Public speaking is one of those things that oddly boosts my confidence because I often see outgoing people struggle with it. It's interesting.

I thought it was known for a while that Evans wants out?

Which is a shame, of course, because Cap is one of my favorite characters in the MCU and its because of Chris Evans portrayal of the character.

But honestly Id rather they give the character closure than recast or something. If he wants out, let him leave. It sucks doing work that you dont really care for.

I dont think you guys realize how many actual sets and actual locations were used for The Hobbit.

And how many green screens were used for LotR.

Tbh it's like with Hugh Jackman as Wolverine; both of them mentioned at one point that they felt their overstayed their welcome and therefore don't wanna ruin it further.

The only reason he stayed for Avengers 4 is because it originally was supposed to be a two parter

If I had to take a wild guess based on interviews I've seen, I'd say he enjoys being an actor in and of itself (otherwise he would have quit by now). But he also strikes me as a down-to-earth guy who does not suffer fools lightly, and Hollywood is never not teeming with fools.

I think it's mostly that he just wants to Branch out and not be stuck in the same role for years.

He also tried to get Indiana Jones killed.

I hope he has a good end.

I thought that he enjoyed doing the films, I remember him talking about a contract extension earlier and how he enjoyed it.

But whatever.

I really hope they don't recast the role, and would prefer swapping to Bucky over anything else.

Also Bucky Cap was a good decision, Falcon Cap was a bad decision.

I never understood the whole green screen issue. Doesn't it make it a greater challenge, and ultimately make you a better actor/increase your chops if you can act believable solely infront of a green screen?

That being said, wish homeslice the best on his future endeavours and I hope he succeeds cause he seems like a cool dude.

Hasn't he said before that he was leaving the series after his contractual obligations were up? I guess he's reaffirming that?

It's a shame. I never really thought about it, but I guess Captain America is my favorite character in the series. I just have a soft spot for individuals whom the system tried to screw over. Chris Evans is likable in the role and it's pretty evident from Cap's first two film appearances that Joss Whedon (and I'm assuming Jim Johnston) had nothing but total antipathy toward Captain America as a concept. Fortunately, the Russo Brothers were there to recover the ball and give him his due.

I just can't help but feel like this is the equivalent of a TV show continuing on after the actor providing the emotional center for the series has left. Black Panther's sequels will print money, so might the Carol Danvers movie, but I don't think the core films of the series will do as well in Cap's absence.

Spiderman might end up carrying the series more. also if they introduce Kamala Khan she will be loved by everyone. since Peter is so young, she can meet him at a science fair. her school is a science rival of his. have them meet that way and then team up.
