Remember when you wanted to talk to someone you'd have to pick up the phone and call them? You were able to discern tones and how they meant what they said.

Remember when you could have a discussion face to face about political issues and stuff like that and not call each other racists, trolls, and the like?

These days I respond to a text from my wife and all of a sudden I'm a jerk because she read it in the wrong tone.

These days I get on facebook and I'm a traitor to the country for being a libertarian.

I do think that social media has either caused or encouraged or provided an outlet for people to be more vapid, but I do like the ability to connect or share experiences from anywhere in the world. I can actually be in a classroom or museum overseas.

Social media is the wrong place to shit post as people can see your real name and get you fired for that. If you need to shit post use an anonymous site like this place. The wost that can happen is you lose your free account.

That too, using your real name with social media can cause issues in the future if you vocalize any opinions. You can't really get rid of your digital footprint in many instances.
