Thats weird

And potentially unhealthy. Doesnt held poop just start spewing out toxins into your body if you hold it in too long?

Bit of a disgusting story, so spoiler.

As a teen I had some blood in my poo, it freaked me out so much I held it all in for a few days (I remember a week though could have been less), eventually I got so desperate that I couldn't hold it in any longer, though I was at a mates.

There was that much poo I literally blocked up the whole toilet! He still hasn't let me live it down either.

We're obviously built to store it for some time, as the act itself isn't normally an instantaneous process, but you really shouldn't hold onto it any longer than necessary. Although there isn't really a build up of toxins, if there were it would still likely be minor compared to the potential for structural damage. I recall reading about someone that died from it a few years ago, but they also had psychological problems which led to the extreme and fatal constipation.

I forget, a Brit I think. Probably not Elvis. I guess I can try to find it.

This!

Also, I like to think of it as compressing an even bigger, more urgent poop for later. I poop when my body asks, usually, so this is not a normal habit.

Usually only hold it in if I'm in public/at work.
We were so busy at work today I held it in for 4 hours or so.
I went as soon as they locked the doors so no more customers could come in.

Something like that happened to me as a kid.

As a kid I didn't like pooping since I thought of it as a waste of time so one day I deciding to hold it in as much as I could until I had to really, really go while I was at school, when the torrent started: it just kept coming out and scared the hell out of me since I thought it would never stop (also I ate some papaya the day before so it didn't help that it was orange).

Fortunately, it eventually stopped and took a couple flushes to get rid of so I was able to escape.

Sheesh, who doesn't like pooping? Passing a huge turd is right up there with sneezing and busting a nut.
