Also, general tip for time management in dungeons that you should be able to exploit soon:

Eventually in the Takemi Confidant, she'll start selling you accessories that increase a character's SP by a little bit each turn. They're very expensive, but once you get four of them (or even just 1-2 to put on your healers) you'll keep them on everyone for the entire game. They essentially let you stay in a dungeon for as long as you want, which helps a lot with time management. I cleared most dungeons in one day because of this.

I think the conceit of the third palace was the safe room is large, but once you unlock it, you can easily reach the safe room and keep plugging away.
