I haven't seen it yet. I'm curious what kind of bad it is.

There are many different types of bad films. There are films of lesser quality or misdirection which sometimes still have redeemable qualities. There are films that are boring or empty. But the worst offenders by far are the ones which undermine the good faith of earlier entries in the series or previous versions of the story.

If the last one's kinda vague, let me sum it up by saying it's characters acting like self-aware cartoon characters in Batman and Robin or the Force being revealed as microorganisms in The Phantom Menace. It's one thing for the hero to have a boring adventure or a weak fight. It's another for a movie to make a creative decision which adversely affects the series going forward.

If they had a boring first film, they might make up for it with an enjoyable Justice League 2. If they've gone and systematically ruined all of their characters, the damage might already be done as far as the series is concerned going forward.

It was just boring for the most part. The villain was so one-dimensional. Im not a big DC buff, but I feel like I have a decent grasp on superhero lore. I didnt even know who this villain was. He was incredibly generic.

Batman was a clumsy, weak, and stupid (in the intellectual sense). Cyborg acted more like Batman than Batman did. Batman was pretty much the goofy comic relief, and I use that term incredibly loosely. There are no real laugh out loud moments.

there are a few stupid parts (basically everything Whedon touched. I mean what even is brunch?!) but the movie overall is solid.

Personally I enjoyed the Ultimate Cut of BvS more but this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But there's tons of things it could have had/different but didn't, so it was a tad bit disappointing.

Definitely not as disappointing as TLJ though lmao.

Yeah, kinda. Everyone said BvS was terrible, but I thought it was a decent action film. I expected this to be about on the same level. But this was just terrible. There was no characters in the movie that I cared anything about.

I'd forgotten about that. Yeah, I'd heard that Batman more or less did nothing.

From his days with Marvel, I really got the feeling that Joss Whedon was the kind of guy who would deliberately do nothing with a character if he didn't personally care for them. Outside of briefly fighting Thor, I don't think Captain America did anything in the first Avengers movie.

Sounds a bit like I how I felt regarding Batman v Superman -- although I'm not so forgiving about some of the creative decisions in that one.

Yeah it was like a 4/10 movie. The most enjoyment I got out of it was from my son matter of factly telling my girlfriend in the beginning of the movie that the bug henchman creatures were Killer Moth, who neither one of us realized was an actual Batman villain, and got a hearty laugh out of it when we found a Lego set that came with Killer Moth

Except the were racists thing, I agree with you completely. They really rushed this out to try to compete with Marvel. The quality really shows.
