Nah, SvR games had some cool stuff like Hotspots for damage, fighting in the crowds, backstage wrasstlin, create a finisher. Then they just took all of that stuff out and gave us flashier entrances.

Same here really. I mean I bought like one of them a few years ago on a sale, messed with it for a very short time and was like this is terrible. It's such a shame.

I don't see why they keep trying to make it "simulation" style anyway. As long as the gameplay is actual fighting, its not realistic either way. Might as well make it over the top and fun.

I've only played 2K14 and 2K18, but the combat is really really bad. There's no blocking or dodging or anything like that. Its just press one button to counter attacks. And if you mess up the timing, you'll basically be stuck in an infinite string of attacks until you manage to pull off counter, unless your opponent just walks away and lets you get up but that won't happen. Then you keep attacking until they counter, then repeat over and over and over again.

And to boot, the timing of the counters is extremely inconsistent and hard to judge. For some moves, you have to press the counter button right as the attack is about to land and for others, you have to press it right at the beginning of the animation, which so many of the grapple moves have no grabbing animation or telegraphing at all, the move just starts and you're locked in it. Its all really bad.

WWE games never had the best fighting but the 2K ones are just boring and frustrating. Also I don't know if its supposed to be this way, but the AI counters you a lot. I'd say like 70% of your attacks get countered. Especially finishers, I remember once, I had like 3 finishers in a row get countered.

Oh and that's another thing. In some of the old games, you could lose your finisher if you didn't use it in time. And you also had to get the opponent in a groggy state first. In 2K18, your finisher never goes away no matter what and you just have to press the finisher button in front of your enemy. You don't have to get them groggy or anything, just walk up and press the button. The only defense for this is to press the counter button which has a really small window.
