Current Events > One of my ferrets died :(

I don't understand what happened. Of the two of them he was the most active and ate the most. He was always jumping around and I play with them almost every day.
He was perfectly fine this morning. I get in after work and I find him laying stiff in his cage.

So far I have the body laying on a thing of newspaper on my floor, hoping he might move again but I'm positive that he's dead so I'm going to wrap him up in a bit.
I haven't been this upset in a while.

that's horrible. was he old enough that he could just die like that? if not, maybe you should have your live one checked out by a vet to make sure it wasn't some kind of transmittable problem.

I've had them for almost two years. They're not very old.
One of my roommates believes that he may have fallen and broken his neck because of the way he's laying (his neck/head is ringed) and because I got a really big cage for them where it's possible for them to slip and fall up.

I just called a vet and she says it's very uncommon for young ferrets to just up and instantly die for no reason so I don't have any other ideas.

It's like, now I don't even want to do anything for the rest of the day. I had stuff that I planned on doing but I just want to lay in bed and watch stupid videos on my phone, but I don't really want to do that either because I would just end up falling asleep and be right back at work tomorrow.
My roommates are suggesting we go somewhere to shake it off but I just feel so unwilling to participate in stuff right now.
