Only thing I remember in the late 90s is how they were getting pushed on television like during commercials. A few other bands got the same treatment too, but the obvious "check out this band, they're cool!" Thing really turned me off, then I heard their songs.

Stay away from me.

Shit band really, never liked them. Rock hasn't evolved past grunge.

I had a Godsmack shirt that was my main concert shirt since I didn't really care that it got all stretched and ruined in mosh pits. Eventually the band's logo as like 3 inches to the right and split down the middle from getting stretched and one of the shoulder parts was splitting. Poor shirt.

As for the band they were ok. Their lyrics were usually too generic edgy for my taste but they had a pretty good musical range for a "metal" band.
