I'm glad we moved away from that dark element of gaming.

Mines didn't. I can't tell you how many times I've played the first two or so hours of Ratchet and Clank.

In DragonBallZ Budokai, there were some features you straight up couldn't access without a memory card.

When my ps3 got ylod {yellow light of death} I lost all my saves, including a playthrough of ff8 that I was finally going to beat, all those manhours gone forever. If memory cards existed, I could have at least played the game on another system and picked up where I left off but nope, losing the ps3 means losing all my saves for the hundreds of games I played, and one in particular that hit me the hardest.

So while fuck sony for this shoddy console, if memory cards were still a thing I would still have my save.

I got a used 360 when Gta IV came out. Didn't have a hard drive for a month or two so I just left it on for days to beat it multiple times.

Same here for 6 months or so.
Finished every game I bought/rented in 2 or 3 days.
