I just watched this video on a focus group with former NRA members. Although they opposed a total ban on guns, when asked if they would support steps to be taken on increasing requirements to own a gun like an AR, the large majority of them raised their hands.

But then again, these arent current members of the NRA. So what's the NRA really opposed to for?

They really like guns

Their view on the Second Amendment seems to be absolute, and any attempt at gun control is seen by them as "infringement".

This. The NRA is nothing but a lobbyist firm for gun manufacturers. They're protecting the billion-dollar interests they have.

These are pretty much it.

As someone said a few weeks back, regardless if your for or against the current situation with the second amendment one thing can be agreed on. The NRA are fucking crazy.

Another followed it up by stating their the right wing version of PETA. I think that's pretty fair.

the NRA is a cesspool of an organization and i say this as an extremely pro-2A person.

they use fear tactics to boost gun sales and memberships while making back end deals that piss all over the second amendment and go against most of what their members want. i dont know if gun control advocates realize it but the NRA has had a hand in some of the biggest gun control bills in this countrys history. they put on a show and make everyone on all sides dance to their tune.

that all said, when it comes to gun control its NEVER EVER enough. more bills and regulations are always to fallow when the previous ones dont work to certain peoples satisfaction. the slippery slope argument sounds cliche but its a very real thing. thats why gun people dont budge on the subject. we've actually had a LOT of gun control over the years and yet they still want more.

The bills Brown signed, which will become law on January 1, 2017, are:

SB 1235 (de Leon): Now competes with Gavin Newsom's Safety for All Act/Ammo Ban.

AB 1511 (Santiago): Bans the loaning of firearms.
AB 1695 (Bonta): Makes some non-violent misdemeanors punishable by prohibitions on owning firearms.
