I am half black and half white and I am proud of both. Blacks and whites call every little thing racism these days. I dont think there is anything wrong with prefering to have a black director for a movie based on a character like Black Panther since its such an integral part of his character, but I can agree its a bit much to say its mandatory.

It makes sense from a monetary standpoint. To be honest the only thing that made that movie stand out was the all black cast. Of it had your average blend it would have been a mediocre film.

Why arent there more? Maybe they just arent getting opportunities. The guy who did Black Panther did a fine job. But if not for that movie, he probably never would have gotten a chance to direct a Marvel movie.

Jeezus...executive producers, writers, directors and actors have all said that there's a myth in Hollywood that films about black people don't sell. They've stated that there is an assumption that a black director can only do movies about the hood, gangs or slavery. This isn't something folks who aren't in the industry are saying. This comes from people who are actually in Hollywood. But it doesn't just stop there. Black authors face the same issues. Assuming it comes from a lack of talent availibility is bs.

It depends on what it is. A movie about Swedish culture should probably be directed by a Swede and not an American who knows nothing about Sweden. The race of the director would depend on what the movie is about.
