Do you think these iguanas should be killed??

Florida Researchers and Residents are taking a controversial approach to ridding invasive "Iguanas" that re overtaking resident yards...and they're BASHING THEIR BRAINS OUT!!

A team from the University of Florida is using a captive bolg gun that sends a bolt into the brain and then they SMASH the creatures heads against a solid object to cause "blunt force trauma" says UF wildlife biologist Jenny Ketterlin.

She said destroying the brains is the most "humane" way to kill them

250 iguanas have been killed so far as their work is part of a 63,000, 3 month research project contracted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission because they say iguanas are an invasive species that feed on plants and wildlife.

They have to sneak up on the iguanas at night while they're sleeping and then "KILL THEM ON THE SPOT"..

She said "We are using flashlights to fin them. They are slow at first. If they're in a tree and wake up, they'll jump into the canal or jump onto the ground and run off"

Once killed, they are put in bags and brought to the lab to be weighed and measured and then taken into a landfill

Veterinarian Dr Susan Kelleher says the head bashing method is cruel and suggests seduation and euthanizating them

Iguanas have been known to show up at shopping malls and common on golf sites as they consume plants and have threatned a billion dollar "sewage line". They also defecate in people's swimming pools and because there's so many, adoption options is not possible...so eradicating them was Florida's only option.

The Florida list of acceptable means of euthanisa include: carbon dioxide chambers, DECAPITATION and Shooting or Stunning followed by DECAPITATION

Do you think these Iguanas should be killed??

Probably like gator.... although I guess that wouldn't necessarily do much to clear things up. However, iguanas are commercially farmed for food in some nations.

I'm pretty sure Iguana is edible.

Anyways they are invasive don't care about people when they get big and can be pretty aggressive. I got hit by a 5ish foot one once. It's tail felt like a steel wire when it hit my leg.

Voted "yes", but that way doesn't sound very humane...

This is like that Simpsons episode, only with Iguanas instead of Snakes and it's for a legitimate reason.

Iguanas are neat creatures and it would be great if there was a non fatal approach, but invasive species are no joke.

We'd kill all the Carps in the Mississippi river if only possible.
