i started up hearts of stone, fought the new people.

the guy on the boat said we'd be sailing for a month to get somewhere

so when we finally got off the boat I thought I'd be in a new area

but no.

a "months" worth of sailing ended up being a minutes walk from novigrad

also that oliferi mage guy rocked my ass and was harder than the finsl boss of the main game, and I was wearing all Mastercraft gear

but I tired out of the game. it's all just the same shit over and over and over and over for 8746 hours

The expansions are the best stories in the game, and the second expansion is the prettiest area in the game

I enjoyed the game, but it burned me out as well over time, to the point where I stopped early in the last DLC and never really mustered the will to go back to finish it.

I did finish the actual main story quest and Hearts of Stone, though.

So I've heard, but by that point I wouldn't have appreciated it anyway.

And at this point, I'm so distanced from the game it would take a while to get back into it (almost to the point of having to start it over from the beginning again to get my flow back), and when I already have a bunch of other games in my backlog and just stuff I want to do in games I've already played (like wasting way too much time in Minecraft), it's hard to justify going back to Witcher 3. Especially when free time as a whole is kind of at a premium, and I can't just devote 12+ hours a day to gaming.

It also doesn't help that I feel absolutely forced into choosing Yennifer over Triss in that game in spite of Triss being the better choice in pretty much every single way, which then forces my hand for a number of choices in the DLCs, and diminishes my enjoyment of a "retirement" scenario with Yennifer in ways that something like the Citadel DLC for Mass Effect 3 never did (in spite of ME3's slew of other problems).

I really like the game myself. I'm only missing 4 achievements for it on steam. I think I've played it too much

I have like 27 hours played and am mostly doing the main quest. I think I might be on the highest difficulty.

I've accepted that I'll never finish the game, and have uninstalled it

it doesn't end dude

as soon as you think you're close to something important, nope, 8 more things happen that side track you for no other reason than to pad the game time

Is that game like Skyrim, in the sense that if you beat the main quest and dlcs you can still walk around and do quests... or does it end once you finish the purchased content?

the only character actually worth anything is ciri.

if the game was just her, it's be fantastic.a ciri only witcher game? yes, please. i want that.

but it's not. it's this mess of characters that don't go together as it is, and the one thing tying them all together is a character with less personality than Plank from ed edd and eddy.

the story isn't anything to write home about, either. it's passable, but heavily padded with stupid shit that has no point to being there.

the side quests aren't much better.

the world isn't even anything special either, it all looks the same.

For what it's worth, I thought the game was fun, but I don't want to sink that much time into it. It's a solid rpg, and from what I've seen, the story is cool.

For what I've played, I'd give it a solid 9/10. I'm really just not into sinking that much time on just the main quest, and for only one play through.

Maybe if I just went on story difficulty mode I could blitz everything. I chose the hardest mode, and I really didn't think at the time that it would pad everything out.

I know. Hard mode wasn't hard, just grindy. After awhile, I just didn't want to play anymore
