I can sing along to the lyrics or hum the melody, but that's it. There's no memorable or iconic riffs or progressions or anything. Just the same drum track in the background.
In every other decade the music on pop radio felt like it had a bit more creativity behind it then just the lyrics sung over some generic beat. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Pop music has always been this way when speaking generally. The "classics" everyone remembers were the best of pop music. Every era had tons of generic forgettable garbage.

It's made for people who live in the moment and don't care to have stuff last longer than necessary or some shit. I dunno, I find music that I can enjoy for years and years.

When you've got songs with a bunch of different overlapping parts, each written by an individual musician, there's a lot more room for creativity and something interesting to shine through. I think the general population just has terrible taste in music these days. There are still plenty of great pop songs being made, but none of them are able to make it to the top 40 because people would rather listen to the same old garbage.
