Warcraft 3 was great.

It had that ranking thing where you're avatar changed on your wins right? Like if you won with the undead you would move up from acolyte to ghoul.

I remember towards the end I started getting sucked into custom games though.

Yep. I think there were different icons for team wins vs solo wins but I'm not sure. I used to play 3v3s a lot and custom games. So many good Lord of the Rings maps.

It still has an active community, but they play on unofficial servers to dissuade cheating. Last I checked w3arena is still alive, might be worth checking out.

I remember I used to be a fan of peasentry and Cops&Robbers.

Huh, i think i still got my code for the Frozen Throne so If i find it i might check that out. I'll probaly get destroyed at this point though.

Maybe I will. I think a big problem is all the bad players to cut your teeth on are gone now so I'd be taking a pounding until I got back into it. I hope Blizzard remasters it so it can have a revival. There's a new patch coming that adds widescreen support and 24 players in customs.

Yo a remaster would be pretty dope.

...or maybe a new Warcraft entirely?

Last time I tried to play WC3 the custom map scene was pretty much dead. There was only a few maps being hosted by bots and any time someone tried to host something other than those few it never got enough people to start.

But the SC2 custom map scene never matched WC3 in the time I played it.
