Yeah and after having one for a while I didnt feel like there was all that big of a difference

After temporarily using a non-4K tv though, my games look so much worse in comparison

Nothing wrong with my 50" 1080p plasma from 2011. I won't buy a 4K until that TV goes to shit.

I wonder if the total collapse of TV prices will continue, though. I'm pretty sure a 50" 4K TV that would have gone for $3000 in 2014 costs around $500 now.

Nope. I've no reason to buy one yet. Just like when making the jump from SD to HD I wait until my TV dies before I make the jump. This means I'm happy with a 28" 1080p TV at this point but when that dies I'll upgrade to a bigger screen, 4K and HDR 10 set. By that time they will be more affordable and more 4K content will be available. I'm in no rush.

Yeah, I have a 4k, but unlike for monitors, it doesn't make that big of a difference for TV shows and movies unless you get a fairly large model and it's pretty close. I have a 55 inch and it's about 6 feets from the couch, so the difference isn't that great.

What really makes the picture better is 1) HDR and 2) OLED (ideally. Other high end LCDs aren't bad either). Those make a huge difference. The later makes a difference for all content, not just new stuff, too.

Just a plain old 4k display is not worth upgrading for unless you're planning on getting very large one or putting it really close.
