Even if you get a direct deposit you still get a copy of your paycheck which is used as proof of your payment and provides details of your payment.

Mine are sent to an old e-mail that I rarely use or check.
So theoretically I keep copies of my paychecks.

is there any point to keeping copies of paychecks? Is there ever going to be a moment where you need to go into your file organizer and look at an old paycheck for something important?

I have them all because my parents house has an excess of space. but I've never needed to use them, will probably sghred them eventually

I don't get anything 'sent' to me, but all of it is available online at work so I don't really have an option to not keep it.

If you need a loan, they usually want at least 3 paychecks worth of stubs. Other than that, I can't really think of any reasons you'd need it unless you need them to do taxes because your company doesn't give you W-2s for some reason.
