And do you think that your reason for believing what you do is a rational one?

This is probably a lame answer, but I'm a Christian because it feels right to believe in it. Like it feels like the right thing to do in life

Yeah

Could that same logic not be used to rationalize any belief?

You're born, and you die. What comes after is anyone's guess, those are the only guarantees in life. The rest is just a mess and we do our best to get by.

So, doesn't that imply that every single belief is rational, including purely nonsensical ones and ones that directly contradict your own beliefs?

It really isn't.

Your brain shuts down and you experience what you experience when you get knocked out, except permanently.

That's the thing though.

There was a time when you weren't alive.

You didn't exist at all.

The atoms that made your body now were spread out in nature.

But now you exist. You're alive.

Then one day you're no longer gonna be alive. Back to square one in a way.

What prevents you from being alive again?

Like as a spider or something?

At that point it's no longer you.

"You" are an ever-changing system, not an object. The atoms that make up your body are of no special sentimental status. They serve their purpose to keep the system running, and phase in and out. It's said that your body completely cycles through itself every 7 years, with no atom unreplaced.

No, I'm not sure how nonsensical ones would be rational, since they would be nonsensical. But here's how I see it. I grew up in a Christian household, and was raised as such. But looking at it as a whole, the core beliefs make sense to me, so it's what I stick with. I believe there is a God, a heaven and a hell. I know there are millions of people that practice other religions, and I respect that. Because they probably chose there religion the same why I did. I know part of that goes against a part of my beliefs, because one of the things about Christianity is to convert people that aren't followers to be, but it is what it is

So you believe in Christianity because that's what you were taught first?
