I know on average people start working usually after college or after high school but in this generation people are more dependent. The dark ages of people having jobs as kids and teens are over

I mean, I had my first job at 14, and I'm only 27.

I wish I had a job at 14. Maybe then I wouldn't be so unemployable now.

Was that by choice? In high school people are having too much fun to need to work

I dont know any 20 somethings that dont have a job or isnt in school, hell some even have 2 jobs and are still broke. I know thats anecdotal but still its odd that they're 20 somethings doing nothing.

One buddy in particular is 23, not in school and not working. Lives with parents, they pay for food and help with laundry and he just lives live. Goes out with friends, does his hobbies, just goes about his day

What's fun is being able to fund your own hobbies

Thats what parents are for. Good ones are those who give weekly allowance money, some dont even require you to do chores to get allowance!

After a point if you havent been working you have to just go back to school and get immediately applicable to the job industry training to make up for it or just lie in the interview and say youve been doing odd jobs. At least act like a go getter. Either way though youll need some interviewing skill. Thats the thing about years of experience, it can usually do the speaking for you.

Didn't get my first job until after college when I was 21. Just couldn't find a job while in college. Had a few internships, but finding a job felt impossible.

It's not necessarily about needing to work. It's not like you need to work full-time. Part-time work just helps develop work ethic and maturity, helps fund hobbies in high school, and you still should be able to handle course work and maintain some sort of social life.

It's all about a balance. My first job was at 15.

But you dont need to work to have money. I always had about 1,000-2,000 spending money, which was ok for hs, but if you wanted like 5K a month for spending money that may make sense.

That is unfortunate for them. Thankfully some don't! They have spouses or parents to pay things for them, or they get checks from the government, like a lot of my close friends, and don't need to waste time with a job.

well duh? If not then there is NO need to get a part time job. Just ask your family for money. They should be giving you money or allowances.

You didnt look hard enough or were just finding reasons to make excuses. Jobs are literally everywhere.

People who say they can find employment are just lazy. Spent the 8hrs you would have spent working everyday, looking for and applying to jobs. You would had have one in no time.

I've had so many types of jobs...basically all the **** jobs you can have...fast food, clothing stores, retail, pizza delivery, sub delivery, and a customer service rep job doing roadside assistance.

For a while I was only putting down the last 4 or 5 jobs on my job apps. I guess I don't care to put everything down. I would assume I can be competitive for ****ty jobs with a college degree and 5 jobs listed anyway. But maybe I should put more. There's nothing here but delivery truck jobs and sales jobs for outsourced companies.
