You're right, it looks terrible. So what? Would it have been fine if a man had been asked to do it? Should the university make exceptions for graffiti based on the politics of the message?

It looks bad because the picture was designed to make it look bad. In reality, a janitor working that day had to clean up graffiti. That's it.
