I think I'm depressed and according to this short survey my PA gave me, I am. I'm also a smoker, so Wellbutrin makes sense. However, your personal experience in quitting holds little weight because millions of people struggle, whether it be weak will or whatever, and this pill helps. Except they make it a pain to get if you don't have depression. They make you go to a psychiatrist to get it when a regular doctor should be able to prescribe it without being diagnosed with depression or other mental illnesses. --- It all just disappears, doesn't it? Serotonin is the most extensively studied neurotransmitter in depression." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2950973/ Depression, ADHD, and probably a lot of other diseases could be looked at from a perspective that they're just cases of people with different types of brains--types of brains that aren't as compatible with the social hierarchy as the more ambitious types of people. For instance, someone with ADHD is probably more likely to be creative because they're easily distracted and I guess interested in more stuff. I would guess that anyway. I know I think that I'm a creative type of person and I have ADD. Those neurotransmitters above are definitely correlated with happiness (serotonin) and reward (dopamine). I have a bachelor's in neurosci too. I'm not just talking out of my ass. I can certainly see why they say it can be due to a lack of this OR that one OR that one. It's not necessarily one concrete cause. Maybe some people just have low standards for what they consider inattentiveness, so they see a doctor because they want to be even more productive. Same goes for depression. I always had a hunch that I was depressed for a long time, but never saw anyone about it. I always asked myself though, "What if I was depressed for a very long time and just didn't know it, like a goldfish in water that doesn't know what water is?"
