Thirdly, I kinda hate Scurlls finger break. No one ever actually gets broken fingers in kayfabe. It really kills the illusion

I've wanted one thing from this gimmick. Dolph comes out to a record scratch and then everyone in the ring freezes. Dolph turns to the camera and says, "You're probably wondering how I got here..." Then we get a video package with Dolph narrating it.

There are two problems with the Ziggler gimmick.

1. Record scratch-- just make him come out with no music please.
2. He chastises flash while cutting the same promos and wrestling the same matches-- there are ways to make that gimmick work but you can't do that without changing Ziggler himself a bit since flash without substance is basically his entire schtick.

And I'm honestly not sure if the second point is more on Dolph or the writing. Like I doubt when going over the match he's told "OKAY NOW BE SURE TO SUPERKICK AT LEAST 15 TIMES IN THIS MATCH"

I'd argue that superkicking doesn't have to be flash over substance so much as flash that is also substance. If Dolph mugs to the crowd after a kick, sure. But if it's just Dolph doing his moves because he's trying to win a match, it's fine. It's the rest of that package that is the real problem though.

Ziggler should have changed his moveset to the most boring thing ever and played it up, or been straight up hypocritical and made his moveset even more needlessly flashy and played that up.

I think changing up movesets is a big part of a gimmick change that is grossly underused-- that's a big part of the reason Willow never worked either and why Broken Matt Hardy actually does work.

The Forearm being on there is pretty lame too.

That would be pretty great.

As an aside, I was hoping the Top Ten list would turn Orton heel as everyone he interacts with begins to drop him in the rankings because no one likes being RKO'd by Randy when he's not participating in their matches, and it could lead to Daniel Bryan trying to get Randy to go to anger management.

I'm not sure exactly where you go from there but yeah just having Mizdow stop being Mizdow was 100% the wrong way to do it.

I'm thinking eventually after Miz bungles with some attempts to find his identity without The Miz, you could have Miz do a knockoff of the intellectual savior gimmick or something to goad him into another match for the gimmick, then correct the gimmicks at that point-- I dunno. Point is Mizdow didn't really exist as an entity independent from Miz for long at all which yeah of course people are gonna stop caring when you just go full stop into another gimmick for no reason.

Intellectual Savior Sandow could've actually worked as a face gimmick and I think was the right way to go eventually-- he just needed to be roasting heels instead of the audience. Random impressionist's ceiling as a gimmick was below what Sandow's level of overness was.

oh my god, this would've been amazing.

If Mizdow got to keep I CAME TO PLAY and everything about the Miz character while "Mike Mizanin" had to figure something else out and then figured out to do Damien's original character to piss him off and goad him into a character rights vs character rights match.

This so damn much. It started off so well too with Bray winning back to back matches against Cena and Styles before Orton happened. Bray at least wasn't the worst WWE champion that year; Orton pretty much shammed his 13th world title reign, doing nothing except the House of Horrors match and jobbing to Jinder Mahal.
