It's a start. The repeal tenets are heavily focused on the personal tax rate gains rather than corporate gains from the GOP tax cut, but it does signify that the democrats are willing to put up tax cut repeal as an election issue.

Overall popularity of the tax cut has been rising quite a bit, though the trend is short-term. Whether it will have long-term legs will depend on its actual long-term impact on workers.

But either way, dems are willing to make it an election issue. Good on them for having spines and not fleeing at the first sign of unpopularity--when the GOP passed the bill, it was deeply, deeply unpopular.

Repeal may also be unpopular at first, but as dems are linking it to a VERY popular infrastructure plan, there is significant upside for them.

Step 1: Dems promise something we all agree with
Step 2: Dems either don't do it, or do the opposite

Don't a lot of the personal cuts expire next year? And then they all expire after like 5 years?

Aides said it was hypocritical for Democrats, after months of complaining about the $1.5 trillion deficit impact of the tax bill, to take two-thirds of that cost and devote it to infrastructure.

I don't see how it's hypocritical. The complaint about the $1.5 trillion was that we were adding that much to the deficit just to give more money to wealthy people. Democrats love deficit spending normally.
