You're at home one day when your father turns up unexpectedly looking serious but concerned and hands you a small package containing a Beretta 92FS and 30 bullets.

He says "[First name] you just keep hearing about all these shootings and violence. Piles of dead kids overight, fellas killing each other in the street over money, over girls, over drugs, over nothin'. It ain't right. Your generation has lost it. And you need to make sure you're prepared for anything. Keep it with you.

Don't tell your mother because you know how she will react. Just... Look after yourself out there okay?"



How would you react?

Unsurprised. When I first met him, he called me to his room to show me his god damn revolver and tell me how he used to sell guns from his van and the cops gave him special permission to use certain weapons or some bullshit like that.

I'd assume he has it sabotaged to backfire on me or something. There's no way he'd ever arm me to defend myself, generally if he has a gun and I'm in the room with him, he's telling me how he'd blow my brains out if I ever cross him. Seriously, not even joking.

My father was abusive. He also cheated on my mother with dudes, ate a bunch of dicks with his ass, and got AIDS. I'd say the fact that I didn't murder him when I had the chance shows that I don't need any help.
