I've definitely heard of people abusing the return policy. Though I've never heard of GameStop denying the returns...

So the employees get to just say no?
Thats weird.

Sometimes I buy dlc then keep getting the game used when dlc is out then take it back

They always let me. *shrugs*

I wonder if the customers were rude. I can't normally see most employees caring enough about what a customer returns, but if the customer is an ass, I can see an employee deciding it's time to enforce the discretionary part of that policy.

So? Simply because they let you doesnt mean they dont have the ability to say no...

Im just speaking from my expirience. It seems weird that they would. What suddenly counts as abuse if theyre cool with thst.

Lol at you actually getting annoyed by what I said

Maybe if you were more respectful, you would get more respect.
And TC, I never heard of it. Probably some employee on a power trip

I've never heard of it but I can certainly understand if the customer was 'wardrobing' games and treating the store like their own, personal, rental place. I mean, there's a difference between returning a game and policy abuse. Sort of like having to deal with that jackass who buys some food, proceeds to eat half of it, then tries to return it under store policy because 'they didn't like it'. Bonus points if they did it right in front of you.

I should add that wardrobing is actually considered to be a form of outright FRAUD! Since you purchased with product with the intent of returning it you attempted to gain use of the product for a vastly discounted or effectively free rate and likely cost the company a pretty penny in doing so. That is, most certainly, fraud. Of course they can't prove it (even if they suspect) if you do it just once; though doing certain things like buying a T.V. to watch the Super Bowl then returning it will raise a bazillion red flags. However, keep it up and they'll figure it out. Heck, they may flag you for closer watch after one return if things are just a bit too suspicious/convenient.

So for people intent on wardrobing... Don't do it. Getting in trouble with the law just isn't worth it. Plus any good favor and will you built with the company will vanish in an instant.

I am just going to assume the policy is trash and there is a law that protects costumers.

It seems like wardrobing would be hard to prove over buyer's remorse, though.

I mean, probably hard to say for sure. But if you do this every week, it most likely not just buyers remorse...

Me too. I was buying a used ps2 controller because my buddy was in town. The employee said something like "If this is just a one time thing you can return it for a full refund. I do it all the time."

Well, yea. It's a bit hard to say; hence why return policies are becoming more strict. Plus there are some clear-cut signs. Like, say, someone who buys a brand new game at launch only to return at near-full price about a week later. That's part of why you don't get your full cash value back. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that stores are implementing policies that make it so you don't get a full refund frequently now; and I'd actually side with the store there.
