Yes, absolutely. Comparing the ratio of how many officers respond to how many incidents annually and only the handful of bad are highlighted and brought to light, it's literally one in millions. People focus too much on the bad, and yes, absolutely, the bad is BAD. But it's not tens of thousands of incidents a month. It's a very small, tiny ratio that is exposed by the media. Again, I stress, the bad is bad. I don't deny this. I am also considering what isn't brought to the media and the corruption that will never be known. Even then, it's a small fraction of one percentage, and i'm not judging an entire nation of officers around these incidents.

Anyone who thinks being a cop is some trivial life choice or that police are inherenly bad need to wake up. Police choose theire profession to help the people they have seen victimized their entire lives sometimes and want to help within the legal framework. They get run down by the job nobody can understand unless you have spent time in those shoes.

That's not necessarily true. There was always a vocal support for police officers and/or against the protests.

I have friends who got blamed for things with my confession simply cause their skin colour. I have also seen people use the race or sex they belong to to try and get out of a lot of situatiobs too .my main point is there will always be people looking to outsmart the system and any protections you put on it. You think the police are bad what do you suppose

Ehh, I guess it depends on what you mean by trust. Im not all that trusting of the government in general, but I know its law enforcements job to respond to crimes. I trust that theyve gone through basic police training through their academy, although they are still human and vulnerable to insecurities, fears and so on. I dont commit crimes and I dont hang out with criminals, so my experience with law enforcement has been entirely neutral.

Despite being pulled over multiple times after drinking and only ending up with a warning, I still can't trust them. This is based largely on experiences that friends have had and the media's portrayal of the officers. My own experiences haven't been that bad.

It really depends on the department.

In areas where the government is corrupt, the police are generally corrupt and therefore less trustworthy. In Atlanta, that would be Fulton, Clayton, and to an extent DeKalb counties. Of those three departments, I would say that Clayton is the exception in terms of having one of the most corrupt governments but having the least corrupt police force of the three. In areas where the government isn't really corrupt, the police tend to be held to a higher standard, and are usually less prone to corruption, which is the root cause of bad cops...

My dad used to run a bar where loads of cops drank. Pretty much all of them were thick as fuck and total scum. The only time I've had to have proper contact with them over a major incident they falsified the statement I gave.

If you want to be in the police you shouldn't be allowed to be in the police. The force is a honey trap for idiot bullies.
