We've had Terminators played by white men (Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Patrick, and the dude for the T-3000 in Genisys), a white woman (T-X in Terminator 3), and an Asian man (T-1000 in Genisys).

The next step is obviously a black person, and I think it would be cool to see a black Terminator. But then again, it kinda destroys the trope that black people are anti-robot/AI (Matrix and I, Robot for example.) Part of me would rather see black people remain as humanity's heroes against the machines.

I would guess the idea is rooted in imperialist propaganda that painted all non-Europeans and non-Asians as Luddite savages. The stereotype extends to a lot of other people colonized by European empires. For example, look at Commander Chakotay on Star Trek Voyager. The guy is literally on a flying interstellar computer ship, and he wants to solve each crisis of the week with a story of his people and a vision quest or some other 'magical' ability.
