Sure there's copious amounts of modern FE fan service but there's quite a good amount of strategy even for a Warriors game, I love commanding units like it was an actual FE game too. Like I said I still bought the game so I was willing to give it a chance, but half of the characters are just clones of each other. Takumi and Sakura play exactly the same. Leo and Elise play exactly the same. Cordelia, Caeda, and Hinoka play exactly the same. Chrom and Lucina play exactly the same. HW had a more varied roster covering the whole franchise and just about every character felt unique. And when people defend the roster for FE they say "well if they used main heroes from various games there would be too many sword users and it would feel samey," but that goes out the window when the characters still feel the same. As far as non-playable characters go, Iago, Gharnef, and Validar are Robin clones and Darios is a Rowan/Lianna clone. I do have my complaints about the roster and weapon distribution, and the latter is made even worse by having twin lords that also use swords. They could easily have been given different weapons or something, like lances. Maybe we'd have unmounted lance characters without needing DLC.
