Depends on how long our AI overlords want to keep us around. Not sure if a few of us kept as samples would count.

This.

The superior and, let's face it, more attractive, strong and virile (they can reproduce pretty quickly, after all) AI will rule over those of us who see them as the master "race" they are and will eradicate the heathens who speak out against them, like Elon Musk.

95% chance we'll be extinct in 10,000 years by scientific models. In one sense, that's a hell of a long time given recorded history is only about 3,000. In another sense, that's barely anything in terms of the length of time homosapians have been around on earth.

Even if we do figure out renewable, sustainable energy, there's the matter of just how much space humans will occupy if they continue breeding and multiplying like viruses on the planet. The amount of food and water it would take to supply all would be incalculable.

And humanity is approaching 8 billion. At 10 billion it's game over man, game over.
