Yes, it is a title of the reigning grand champion which gets challenged every year by the winner of the east vs west representative of the country, if you manage to retain the title for 5 straight years you become an eternal meijin which Arata's grandfather was able to acheive. Queen is the same thing for the women's tournament. only team tournaments are able to have male vs female fights. tier list was for the most part Arata >>> Chihaya > Taichi but then Taichi went into the hyperbolic time chamber to train with the current meijin and managed to do similar ridiculous feats like have the chess pieces spell my name kind of a thing, so he's probably on top right now I would say, he WAS alwways the one with the better memory recalling every single card read during a match and adjusting to imminent one syllable cards due to this before all of that, hell that was the reason he was an A class player even when he had the plot give him always the worst outcomes when it comes to luck draws and card permutations as well as having just regular hearing and stamina.
