I would have to agree. Relationships/Marriage are not for everyone, and it's dumb that you are expected to automatically pursue someone relationship with someone.

That's why you date for a while before getting engaged, know what you want out of a relationship, and communicate fully with your partner. Lots of people don't do any of that and wonder why they're either single all the time or always fall into shitty relationships.

While I agree relationships aren't for everyone and that its fine for someone to want to be single, the stuff you said is what you get in a bad relationship. There's good relationships too.

I like coming home to absolute silence. I like leaving my house and not returning for 2 days without having to answer for it. Back in the day I lived with a girl and HATED it. Never again. My ideal situation is me living alone for the rest of my life, with me spending a weekend with a girl(sex, amusement park, bar, etc) and then never seeing her again(well, truly ideally it would be to just hook up, but unless I hire a prostitute that's just not realistic). Weekend adventures are cool, but that'd it. Some of my best memories were drunken sex-filled weekends with girls that i never saw again.

Everyone has been telling me yhe older I get the more I will change my mind about marriage. I'm almost 40 and I hate the idea even more than when I was younger.

But I also realize that this is my personal opinion and that for whatever reason, marriage is what many people want. Different strokes.

...1. Marriage isn't something you take lightly. No matter how good you feel about someone, give it a couple years or more before considering it. This can prevent divorces from happening by a lot.
2. Every couple has arguments. It's inevitable. You can't avoid that shit or divorce just because of it.
