I feel like my standards are too high and/or obscure to ever find someone worth investing real hope into. Like they have to live no more than 20 minutes away, and physically an 8/10+, and intelligent or creative/artistic in some way. They have to be interesting and hot...and basically no more than 2 years older than me but as young as 10 years younger. But I live in a town of like 50,000 people. There's not much selection.

I'm pretty sure I would be an 8/10 at the lowest, but I'm broke. Looking for a better job while I contemplate what I'm gonna do for grad school / study for the GRE. So yeah...I know that I don't make much money which is why I thankfully am kind of settling into accepting that. It makes total sense to me that women want a guy who works and makes money, but I also see that as kind of unfortunate. Just today I was listening to Chris Rock's new standup and he said something like, "Women, children, and dogs are the only ones loved unconditionally. If you're a man you're loved on the condition that you can provide." I think that's true, but I think that's only true because most people live in an old paradigm. Like if I didn't live in America and people actually weren't intimidated as easily by people with substance then I might have an entirely different aura surrounding me and maybe I would have more confidence. I do have confidence in myself, but lack confidence in people's ability to be accepting and make sense. So I just don't fit in here. Obviously a man can be valued for much more than the money he can make, but Americans are myopic.
