What exactly do you like about the story? I found it ridiculous since GTA is possibly the worst kind of game you could choose to tell that kind of story in. I also found the antagonist to be ridiculous since you meet him for like five missions before he betrays you and suddenly becomes the worst person in the world.

Niko was a dude suffering with PTSD, and was clearly a hypocrite, who rationalized betraying others while whining about how others better betrayed him

I like how what dynamic played into him trying to make a new life and connections, and how him being blind to how his destructive nature wouldn't allow that

GTA 4 is the worst 3D GTA and the single most disappointing game of all time.

The story takes itself too seriously despite not being interesting, there's so many tedious tasks like having to take people bowling and shit so they don't get mad at you, the entire city has no variation and is just boring, and it cut an extremely large amount of content from it's predecessor(s). All it has going for it is the engine being better, but V's is even better than that so that doesn't matter either.

There was a clear direction between III -> VC -> SA of just taking the formula, adding more content and just doing everything bigger and better giving you more shit to do.

I went from breaking into military bases to steal jets, flying around on jetpacks, using flying cars cheats, going on a rampage getting tanks sent after me, etc. Some some shitty dark and gritty story that directly conflicts with the gameplay. Oh you have Niko saying he'll never kill anyone again and shit, then right after that cutscene I'm mowing people down on the sidewalk on the way to the next mission.
The radio, while having more songs was weaker too imo.

Even Vice City Stories on PSP had more gameplay variation and content.

I don't even remember the antagonist for IV.

I don't think I'll ever forget the final fights in 3, VC, or SA tho

Shit was hilarious

Anyway, I liked Niko's story and the physics and how alive Liberty City felt. Those last two I feel were lacking in GTAV, but everything else about it was way better.
