Do you think "more guns" is the answer as proposed by fascist Trump and the crazy NRA?

The 54 y/o ARMED SECURITY GUARD at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School is pictured for the first time as he did NOTHING to stop the attack but instead HID outside from gunman Nikolas Cruz!!

The school's resource officer did not confront the gunman and instead cushioned himself outside and hid behind a wall according to Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, who is calling on a BAN on the AR-15 military style guns to the public

Israel said he never went in despite being the only armed person there AND in uniform when bullets started to fly

Peterson was "seeking cover behind a concrete column leading to a stairwell" because he was worried Cruz would be lurking in the lot and that he couldn't hear gunshots or screrams to lead him to the precise location of the shooting

He has now resigned over the incident before he was initially suspended without pay while they conducted an investigation..and he had met the requirements now for EARLY RETIREMENT

Video footage shows he arrived at Building 12 where most of the killing took place but apart from getting on his radio to aleart police, he ultimately did nothing and ran right back and behind a wall while people were getting shot

Israel said instead of him standing there, he should have goen in and confronted him because it was his job..but instead, he stood there for up to 4 minutes and his lack of action has left the department devastated as it made israel sick to his stomach because Peterson NEVER DREW HIS GUN either!!

His pension will be 75% of the average of his top 5 earning years

Cruz managed to get away after ditching his Semiautomatic AR-15 and slipped away to a Walmart to buy a drink at a Subway before he was taken down after police saw security footage to identify him

Peterson is a divorced father of 4 and worked at the sheriff's office in 195 and in 2016 made 75,673.72 and lived in a HOUSING on campus since 2000. He was also rewarded with the title of School Resource Officer of the Year because he proved to be reliable in handling issues with tact and judgement and was nominated for Parkland deputy of the year

He was even featured in a Sun-Sentinel article arguing the importance of SRO's on school grounds fighting to keep their jobs...he said "We are crime prevention"

He has now gotten PROTECTION for his family as right wing groups are THREATENING him and calling him "weak" and a "traitor" for not fighting back!!

Donald Trump is arguing ARMING TEACHERS with the NRA is also arguing for because they said MORE GUNS is the answer as Trump said arming teachers is "less expensive" than armed guards. He will also give bonuses to teachers to take up arms and take a course..

Israel also went toe to toe with NRA Wench, Dana Loesch after she tried to tell a full room of Florida attendees that more guns was the answer before she was booed out of the room

Do you think more guns is the answer??

This

Yeah. He's an older guy too and probably hasn't been in a situation like this before. The guilt's probably eating him alive, he wasn't intentionally a coward, he probably just froze up. And 4 minutes goes by really fast in an intense situation.

Its a shame he wasn't able to do more to help, but I can't really hate on the guy. Shootings are scary situations.

you have a very stupid idea of what being a cop actually is. He's not a swat commando.

He might not have even known where the gun fire was coming from. Is he just supposed to run around with his gun out and hope he gets the jump on the shooter?

What if he panics and accidentally shoots someone other than the shooter?

It's pretty easy to sit behind your keyboard and say what he should have done in hindsight.

I don't understand how this can happen. I've never been in a shooter situation or carried for a job but I did work in as security in a psych facility and have on a semi regular basis fought people a lot larger than me, stepped between someone with a knife and the nurse he was yelling at, been hit with a big ass piece of wood going into a room.

It's a shitty job but it was actually kind of fulfilling knowing I was actually making a difference. The job was to protect people and I liked that about it.

Panics and shoots the wrong person? Sounds like something that might happen if I'm the one trying to help. That's why I'm not a cop. Like him, I'm not good for the job.

I'm going to reemphasize this. You are vastly overestimating the level of training your everyday cop has been through. Cops aren't trained to storm buildings during situations like this, that's why we have swat teams.

Just for a second try to put yourself in his shoes. All you really know is that someone is shooting. You at best have a vague idea of what direction the shooting is coming from(and you probably don't even know that since the sound is most likely echoing around campus), and you don't even know if it's only one shooter.

What do you do?

While I understand its human to be afraid he was a cop and this is part of the job. He had the ability to follow the sounds and put a bullet in this monster and he chose to cower outside and hide instead. The people defending him are not getting that if he had at least attempted to find and stop this guy a lot less people might have died that day.

All the failings here are awful. Shame on the Sheriff for crapping on this guy like the literal pot calling the kettle black when they were warned like the FBI about Cruz and chose to do nothing about him.

Do people expect teachers to start hunting down the shooter(s) or stay in their classroom protecting their own class?
How long until a teacher is fired for not turning into Rambo?
What if I sit at the back in class, wait until she writes something on the whiteboard, pull out a gun and shoot her in the back? How will being armed save her?
Will the other teachers leave their classrooms? How can they be sure that not one of the other teachers will be the shooter?
What if Lisa escapes my classroom, tries to run away, gets around a corner and see armed people?
How can the teachers be sure that Lisa is not the shooter? That she wont draw a gun or a knife when she gets closer to them?
Some teachers sees their class as their own children, how do you expect them to be able to shoot one of their own children in cold blood?
