1) Stop being a-holes to people 2) If you see that somebody is alone and quiet and has no friends, don't just assume that they don't care. Maybe they are shy or maybe they don't know how to be social... so offer them friendship, not friendliness. What's the difference? Friendliness: "Hey how are you doing today?" Friendship: "Hey do you want to go have lunch with us later?" Loneliness can be devastating and silence can be the worst tormentor, especially when all of your interactions with people are negative.

And before you say "they need to get over it" or "it's no big deal" imagine going a whole day without saying a word to anyone. Now imagine doing that every day. Just see if you can do it for one day. Is it as easy as it looks?

I agree, people should strive to be nicer in general. I don't think it's necessarily a solution for the problem, but it's one of those things that would help most problems a little bit.

Both of those things are far less likely than America banning, confiscating and destroying all guns tbh. It's human nature to be a dick.

Yeah unfortunately. I think it's a bigger problem in the US though than other civilized countries. When I lived in Guam (still in the US but a different culture) people were just friendlier. Canadians are pretty cool too and a lot of the Asians from Japan / Taiwan that I work with are pretty cool.

Not saying that the shootings were right, but if someone is treated like shit for long enough, they will eventually snap. And yes, I know that's not always the case... but look at how many of these shooters are guys

And then you have the problem of schools not doing enough to discourage bullying. How many shootings and stabbings it's going to take before people realized that the bullying problem is the main reason why this keeps happening.

How many shootings and stabbings is it going to take before people realize that the bullying problem is EXACERBATED BY ANTI BULLYING NONSENSE!

This is not new knowledge. This article is from half a decade ago-

http://www.governing.com/news/headlines/are-anti-bullying-efforts-making-things-worse.html

Two students from separate schools committed suicide within days of each other this month _ which is National Bullying Prevention Month _ and both boys apparently had been bullied. Now, parents are asking questions not just about bullying but about anti-bullying videos, which both schools aired shortly before the incidents.

There are ways to reduce bullying. And I don't know what they're thinking with those videos. Showing videos to discourage bullying is the laziest way to do anything. It's like "Here kids, watch this video with some dead kids in it and maybe it'll stop."

Reducing bullying can be done in many ways, from having an open discussion assembly to broadcasting and enforcing the rules from the beginning of the school year. And when it comes to extremes, punishing the bullies and have them arrested.

Every school is afraid to do it because schools want to give people the illusion that they are doing a good job to increase funding and enrollment. It can be done, but it has to be done by being proactive.

Remember the end of that South Park episode where they went to Mexico and slowly helped make it a better place? Then they said that was stupid and made a big gay orgy.

A lot can be done to solve bullying and the gun issue. There's just not enough people high up that want to enforce it. The first 2 amendments really are too loosely followed in this country that people are quick to use try them as shields to defend their actions.

I could elaborate more, but really when it comes to this stuff I find little need to circle jerk with people about it without a solution.
