If it helps your decision, the new iPhones come with a 3.5mm adapter. It's just flimsy as fuck and you can't charge your phone at the same time unless you buy a 3rd party adapter with two connectors.

i have an iphone 7... like 90% of the time i dont mind the headphone jack but there are these occasions where i need to jump on a conf call or something and i left my earbuds at work, or my bluetooth earbuds are dead and im at the gym, that kind of shit, and it is really annoying

It was a sales ploy to force people into paying another $150 out of pocket for wireless headphones (because, naturally, a non-apple product wouldnt work). People outraged and they caved.

So, to take off maybe 1mm of thickness (which is eliminated as everyone uses a case) you lose a headphone jack and have a non-competitive IP standard. Removing the headphone jack is anti consumer and at least in Apple's case is solely meant to make their AirPods more necessary.
It rings especially hollow on the iPhone 7 and 8 generations since they have such huge bezels. I'd believe their argument that it's meant to help make the phone thinner, except the S8 and S9 have screen to bezel ratios even higher than the iPhone X but still have headphone jacks. --- Physician [Internal Medicine] ...
