More than that. He asked the police if info could be traced from a floppy disk in one of his taunting letters and believed them when they said no.

I mean as soon as he got caught, the family obviously disowned him. The ones I knew actually had pictures of him hanging up in their house but those got tossed. As far as I know, his family pretends he doesn't exist.

In one of my computer classes in college we had a project due that dealt with databases and you had to populate them yourself

This one guy in class populated all the fields in his database with racist and hateful names, but changed them all before he had to present to the class.

Well one name he missed changing was BTK. When the professor noticed that he stopped him and said "Does that mean Bind Torture Kill"? Off the top of his head the guy said "No, that's Billy the Kid", and he ended up getting away with it

I remember a few years ago seeing something on TV about him getting captured. I forget what program it was (maybe just Cops) but it showed him getting apprehended from his home. I do not think it was a recreation.

Some dude at my work was talking about this guy. He said he was going out with this girl and the BTK killer was related to her and he knew who the guy was, I think this was before the murders. Anyways he said he's at home looking for a documentary to watch and recognised the dudes face and and called her up asking about it, some real freaky shit.
