If we applied that same concept to guns, even if it doesnt stop all gun related crimes but if it reduces it even slightly and saves some lives. If the average American spends more time behind the wheel compared to the British or Germans and there's more of them driving instead of using public transportation, it would make sense that vehicle deaths, including alcohol related ones, would be proportionally higher. It's a direct comparison of alchol-related vehicle deaths as a percent of all vehicle deaths. Comparing rates, not straight up numbers. US is at about 30 or 31% of vehicle-related deaths involving alcohol. Coincidentally, all 3 are countries where culturally alcohol is promoted as the key to having a good time and binge drinking is glorified.
