Read who that law actually affected and why it was bad as a whole. It would not have prevented any of the recent mass shooters from getting guns. Quoting this as an example is a dishonest way to prove the anti-republican view at this point.

You also tread a fine line when making rules like that. It opens a potentially huge can of worms. Getting these people help or locking them away when help isnt enough is far more important. That kid from last weeks shooting should never have been on the street to begin with and so many people ignored the warning signs including the damn FBI.
